Matryoshka Illustrations

Artist Amy Perrotti has created quite a collection of Matryoshka Illustrations based off of Matryoshka Dolls.

Matryoshka Dolls or Russian Nesting Dolls are wooden dolls that nest inside each other and decrease in size. The outer doll is usually a women and the inner most doll a baby. The dolls in the middle can be any gender. The designs can be very detailed and traditionally the women is dressed in a sarafan. The dolls often follow a theme.

Amy creates original Matryoshka illustrations that she sells on Etsy as prints. Each doll is a true representation of particular culture.

Amy and her husband have an adopted child from china. She is a major inspiration in Amy’s illustrations, and one of the reasons the illustrations are of children. She is now selling customized prints where you can put your own name with the Illustrated doll for a true personalized work of art. Amy is adding new cultures all the time. If your culture is missing, let her know she is more than happy to consider adding it to the collection.

Unlocking the Mystery of CorkHenge

How did these corks get here?

It was a massive undertaking for sure. But what are they telling us? When the light is right we shall all drink? We drink too much or not enough?

Perhaps it was setup to appease the wine gods. I can hear Dionysus now “grow your grapes, harvest them, make wine, and drink it up.”

Or, It could be a graveyard for the natural cork, as there is a movement towards the use of synthetic corks (or even screw tops!) I hear corks are buried  there, and in 2008 they were dug up, and found to have died by way of the chemical trichloroanisole (TCA). Oh gasp!

A renowned sommelier believes that the corks are an ancient clock that tell us what to eat and drink and at what time. Is that a good thing?

More than likely this whole thing is a hoax, just a blueprint of good times with friends and family, or long nights of sorrow. We will never know. The wine will never tell.

What’s the story behind these corks? We can create our own stories and memories and share it with the world. What do you think?

Star Wars and Parkour

A creative mix of Parkour and Star Wars shot in the Utah Desert. The music plays well with the visuals of Jedi’s running through the desert.

Rockin’ Poster Contests

blog_creativeAllies

Creative Allies is a place where anyone can signup and enter a poster contest. You could design a poster for your favorite or not so favorite band if you choose. All the contests have different prizes and rewards and each has their own parameters to adhere by. So if you feel stuck in a rut, having to work on the same old, not so creative thing, check them out and have some fun. Beware though that sometimes an Artist can cancel a contest before the completion date. That happened to me when I was designing a Poster for the new Neko Case Tour. Here is the poster I designed:
